Margarita Gibler, Hispanic Producer

Upon receipt of her English as a Foreign Language Teacher Certification from the Center of Foreign Languages at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 1982, Margarita taught English as a Second Language and Music in various schools in Mexico City, while also working as a free-lance English-Spanish-English translator.
Having moved to El Paso, Texas in 1986, she was employed by Language Plus, Inc. from April 1987 to March 2005. Positions included: English, Spanish and GED instructor, Office Manager, Head of the Translation Services Department; Special Projects Coordinator, special presenter at immersion camps, Intensive Spanish Course Director, translator, and interpreter.

Throughout the 18-year employment with Language Plus, she participated in numerous projects, such as:
• Language instruction (English and Spanish) for adults. Students included corporate clients, participants of Government Programs and Agencies, private individuals, etc.
• GED Instruction at the El Paso County Detention Facility –Female Inmates
• support staff for the Summer Youth Training Employability Program support (a yearly contract by bid with the Upper Rio Grande Private Industry Council, now Upper Rio Grande Workforce Solutions) aiding the coordinators in tasks such as testing, recruiting, records, attendance forms, sign-in sheets, etc. as needed. The main objective of this program is to upgrade participants in world-of-work readiness skills. Through the use of innovative and nontraditional practices, participants are able to combine work and academic training to enhance their motivation and continue their studies in preparation for their future careers;
• Transcription and translation of recordings for Federal Agencies, including DEA, FBI and INS;
• Interpreter coordination for multi-lingual DOJ Immigration Hearings;
• Translation of employee manuals, advertising brochures, medical materials, insurance claims, informational literature, Vital Statistics documents, degrees, transcripts, diplomas, and Web pages;
• Consecutive and simultaneous interpretation for events such as immigration hearings, depositions, conferences, community meetings, public hearings, etc.

Margarita currently works as an independent contractor, offering the added bonus of flexibility, timeliness and cost-effectiveness to a high level of quality and understanding of the clients’ needs, an ability acquired from years of experience in the corporate world.
