The programs offered through Desgination Digital give students,
parents, and employers the step into the future they've
been waiting for. By giving students challenges such as
computer programming, circuit design, digital publishing
and design, our team is preparing them for important job
opportunities. Our companies offer scholarhsips as well
as internships to further the new employee's education and
training.

The
Tools to Grow: Building Math and Science Skills in elementary
and high schools Imagine this: A radio contest that starts
with a popular disc jockey announcing, "Hey, Genius! Can
you answer this one?" A math or science oriented question
(without making it seem like math or science) is asked.
"So say you have a glass of soda filled to the top with
ice cubes. What happens when the ice cubes melt, and why?"
These are real life questions, 'think about it' answers
that will become one of the main ways to reach middle and
high school students outside of the classroom. The contest
will award weekly winners and a grand prizewinner. Groups
of students would be urged to participate. Game clue cards
will be available online. Educators would receive packets
to tie into their curriculum.
UT
College of Engineering offers 14 programs for
elementary through high school students in which engineering
students visit schools to teach real life math and science
skills.
MOVES
is another K-12th grade hands-on math and science program
that will be taught in the schools by engineers and other
semiconductor employees, many of them parents of the students.
Velocity
Prep is a
five-day summer exploration that gives high school students
a chance to learn about the different opportunities driving
High Tech Austin. The program includes hands-on experience
with computer programming, robotics, integrated circuit
design and manufacturing, digital publishing, computer graphics,
web design and others.

Formerly
known as the ACE (Accelerated Careers in Electronics)
Explore
Nights are
opportunities for people interested in learning more about
the high technology, electronics, and semiconductor industries
in Austin. These events are hosted at each company's Austin
headquarters. Students and their parents will have the chance
to find out about the high school and college courses they'll
need to be prepared for high tech careers. Explore Nights
will offer information about many high schools' electronics
courses--which give students credit in high school, as well
as college credit-in-escrow at Austin Community College,
allowing them to apply for cutting-edge internships and
jobs.

learn about career and education opportunities (such as
internships) at area high tech and semiconductor companies,
as well as other businesses and colleges.
