Online Resources
A Guide
to Internet Resources for Cancer provides a detailed
list of resources sorted by disease type, treatments, country, and
other topics.
Children's
Cancer Web is a guide aimed to provide an overview of
dedicated childhood cancer pages available on the InterNet, and
to provide hyperliks to these. The two largest general oncology
sites are CancerNet and OncoLink. However, there are now hundreds
of other general and specialist cancer related web sites.
CancerNet
is provided by the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI). This guide
provides links to those CancerNet statements for childhood cancers.
There are additional statements on supportive care, screening/prevention,
drug information and other issues. There is a useful facility for
searching CancerNet using keywords. CancerNet is updated each month,
and is available in English or Spanish; it is also available via
a number of other sites around the world including Japan, Germany,
Singapore, and Canada. The links to CancerNet in this guide are
to the copy held in Germany.
OncoLink
is provided by the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center. This
site has extensive resources for a wide range of cancer related
topics which will be of interest to both patients and physicians.
The information is available via a number of menus; these include
information by disease type, by medical specialty, cancer FAQs,
psychosocial support, clinical trials and other menus. This guide
provides links to the disease-oriented menus for childhood cancers.
There is also the facility to search cancer related information
using keyword(s). It is also possible to subscribe to a number of
cancer related mailing lists via OncoLink.
